MARINE FORECAST FOR SEAS AROUND CURAÇAO:
.
Synopsis:
A westward-moving tropical wave is traversing the ABC Islands, with its most
active weather remaining north of the area. Nevertheless, increased moisture and
atmospheric instability associated with the wave may promote periods of
cloudiness and a few brief, isolated showers. Meanwhile, light concentrations of
Saharan dust will persist across the region, occasionally reducing visibility.
Weather
Partly cloudy skies will prevail and conditions will remain mostly dry,
interrupted at times by a few passing showers. Winds are expected to gradually
strengthen today.
Visibility:
15 to 25 kilometer in slight hazy condition.
Winds:
Easterly and moderate to fresh; force 4 to 5 (20 to 39 km/h, 11to 21 knots).
Occasionally, possibly strong in gusts; force 6 (40 to 50 km/h, 22 to 27 knots).
Seas:
Moderate with wave heights between 1 and 2 meters (3 and 7 feet). Today
gradually, wind-generated waves will produce somewhat agitated sea conditions
with wave heights reaching up to 2.5 meters (8 feet), mainly along the northern
and eastern coastal sections and over the open sea.
.
Local wind forecast for the next 48 hours:
Easterly and moderate to fresh; force 4 to 5 (20 to 39 km/h, 11 to 21 knots).
Occasionally strong to near gale in gusts; force 6 to 7 (40 to 61 km/h, 22 to 33
knots).
.
